089 - iOS Notarization

On the Mac you can download an app from a website and install it. No store, no human approval, no guidelines. Apple still checks it for malware first, and if that app ever turns out to be dangerous they can switch it off remotely on every Mac in the world.

The iPhone can't do this, and I don't think the reason is security.
