077 - AI Slop Smell

Everything AI touches looks more competent than it used to and somehow worse. Marketing pages, restaurant menus, price lists, blog headers. They're not ugly. They're objectively cleaner than what came before. But they have a smell.

I think I figured out what the smell is: bad taste is a decision. Someone with bad taste had to choose Comic Sans. They selected it. That choice varied from place to place, which is why the mess used to have character. What we're looking at now isn't bad taste, it's the absence of anyone deciding anything.
